ReplyDeleteHi John. Thanks for looking. Anything in particular you are looking for? Hard for me to pick a place to start.
ReplyDeleteI just typed a long response but I think that it has disappeared.
DeleteTwo weeks ago, I lost a Nomic, which had your hammer head mounted, in a small avy so am looking for a single used Nomic. Glad to have 4 screws between us while simul-climbing. In hindsight, it was all a bit more predictable than we thought.
Also, looking for warmer boots like the Scarpa Phantom 6000. I wear Scarpa phantom Tech in 45 (11 ½) which I bought from you and Scarpa Rebel Ultra in 45 that I got from Barabes.
Possibly a mountaineering crampon with a basket instead of a front bail.
Light ice screws like Petzl, BD or Blue Ice.
Possibly two man single skin alpine climbing tent.
-20 degree sleeping bag
Warm Down jacket suitable for Alaska.
New touring boot to replace my size 29 TLT 5. Better if I can put climbing crampons on them.
Possibly new all around skis (95 – 102 mm) to replace my Dynafit Stoke 173 cm. Needs to be good in variable snow. I will use them in Australia and New Zealand.
Foldable/collapsible ski poles suitable for 4 season use and light weight.
I am an opportunistic shopper so will look at whatever you post but I am generally pretty well set up with rock and ice gear.
Thanks and good luck.
Have fun, John.
Thanks for anwering so quickly. I am a bit of an opportunist buyer but there are a few specifics that I am thinking about buying.
ReplyDeleteI lost one of my Nomics in a small avy 2 weeks ago (it had one of your hammer heads on it) so I owuld be in the market for a single used Nomic.
I am thinking about getting some cold weather boots like the Scarpa Phantom 6000. I wera a 45 (US 11 1/2) in the Phantom Tech (which I bought from you) and the Scarpa Rebel Ultra which I bought from Barabes.
Maybe new touring boots. I currently ski Scarpa Alien size 29 and a similar size Dynafit TLT 5. Maybe time for a newer design, especially if it is a pair of boots I could climb in too.
I may be looking for a pair of lightish touring skis in the 95 - 102 mm range that would handle highly variable snow. I will be skiing a lot in Australia and New Zealand. My current skis like that are 173 cm Dynafit Stokes but ski tech has come a long way since then.
Possibly a -20 down bag and a down jacket suitable for Alaska. Maybe a light two man tent for alpine style routes like a Firstlight or competitor.
Maybe some mountaineering crampons that have a front basket attachment instead of a bail.
Do you have any light ice screws like the Petzl, BD or Blue Ice?
Do you have any collapsible/folding very light ski poles suitable for winter use?
Quite the long random list.
Thank you,
John

ReplyDeleteHi Dane. Interested in the following if you've got it:
ReplyDelete- alpine climbing sleeping bags, maybe FF depending on what you've got.
- older tools and technical crampons. Trying to get a partner to come ice climbing with me and he doesn't want to bite the bullet on more pricey gear.
- Could be interested in light touring skis and boots (I'm about a 28.5). Just getting into it and mainly interested in lighter gear rather than something to charge hard downhill in.
- Always interested in some rock gear to fill out my wall rack. Currently in search of a C4 #5 and maybe some aliens. If you have totems you'd like to unload I'd be psyched.
Thanks,
Sean
Dane, really hope you have cheap, old tech bindings- for a set of PIF skis Im mounting. Anything?
